Don D. Harvey is an award winning singer and songwriter from LaCrosse Wisconsin. He is not only an acoustic guitar player, and a harmonica virtuoso but a true entertainer. Don performs a high energy solo act, and is a member of the Ultrasonic acoustic electric duo. Don played with the country and southern rock group Tennessee for nine years. The band was a regional favorite, opening for many national acts and winning several contests and awards. He released his first CD of all original songs with a Tennessee reunion concert in the year 2000. He produced two more CD’s of original music with his rockn’ grass band “Earthbound” in 2004. His song “Technology Blues” was the winner of the 2008 KVAMA song writing contest.
Don was raised in the Mississippi river town of Winona Minnesota. He received his degree in Industrial Education from Winona State University and began teaching in Austin Minnesota. While in Austin, Don bought his first guitar and soon began performing at open stage events. His talents caught the eye of a local band leader and music store operator who quickly made him lead singer of the “Shakin Loose” band. Even after moving to LaCrosse he was still returning to Austin to play with the band. While teaching in Holmen, Wisconsin, Don joined the country and southern rock band Tennessee. Don’s later band, “Earthbound” was an acoustic rock and bluegrass band that enjoyed much popularity for several years.
Now Don performs most every week throughout the Midwest. He is also founding member of the LaCrosse Area Songwriters Corner monthly showcase event with Dan Berger. Don is now retired from teaching graphic arts and photography and is a full time musician. He is also a family man with two daughters. Don and loves to play golf, tennis, and spend time on the water in a kayak.
